The Franklin County Seafood Workers with the cooperation of the Shellfish Center of Apalachicola (Division of Aquaculture) relocated 40,910 bushels of oysters over the summer Relay Program. It was absolutely amazing, and the oystermen and women worked very hard to insure a better harvest for the coming oyster season. The Franklin County Seafood Workers would like to thank all those who participated.
Long before the men and women get on the bay, and long after they have gone, there are many jobs behind the scenes to ready for the Relay and to make the proper arrangements so that the relay will run as smoothly as possible.
With the exception of the weather every thing is planned out ahead of time.
Schedule, Location, and including the amount of funds available for the Relay. Thanks to all those who had a hand in these arrangements, The Department of Aquaculture for their support and hard work, from the book-keepers right on down to the project managers and finance office.
40,910 bushels of oysters is nothing to sneeze at and it shows that the men and women who work the bay do it best, so our hats off to you guys. Way to go!!!!
